When I first moved into my new apartment I had this wild idea about cooking and baking with items that are in season. There's this lovely breakfast place, Eats, in San Francisco that changes their menu every season and exclusively cooks with in-season ingredients. That idea is amazing to me.

I took it upon myself to conduct an experiment. Instead of using lemons in this recipe. I used limes.
Has anyone else realized that limes this year are terrible?!??!? All my limes were dry and hard to juice. Which made the fact that I needed almost double the amount of limes then lemons a little daunting.
My experiment was kind-of-a-failure. I just moved into a new place and I don't have a food processor and couple other kitchen gadgets the recipe called for.
I figured that accounted for the poor color and lack of flavor in the bars. Luckily, other people complained online about the same things....
My point is, if we can we should try to eat seasonally. I wanted to get the above list posted before we hit Summer. Please share any killer Lime Bar recipes you might have so I can go for second round.
As for waste, I did my part and ate the bars for breakfast everyday the following week. They didn't taste too bad despite their appearance.
