I studied art and literature in college, and I'm often surprised to find how much fine art inspires my wardrobe. I've spent afternoons wandering the Metropolitan Museum of Art and in the morning, found myself unknowingly rifling through my drawers in attempt to channel Degas' "Little Dancer" or John Singer Sargent's "Madame X" whose slight frame and black dress is in reference to Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
For this week's Shop Saturday, I've pulled a few repeat favorites from the past month on #ShopLu (Our late night shop hour on Twitter). The fall is the perfect time to dress with a bit of old-school elegance, drama, and mystery. This can be a daring task for those of us who feel more comfortable wearing this. May I recommend scrolling through this Valentino Haute Couture show or reading this. If all else fails, just google pictures of Charlotte Gainsbourg. Trust me.
