Indian summer is fast approaching, and I’m still dreaming of days on the road. There’s something so American about road trips. From books like On The Road to Killing Yourself to Live, and films like Almost Famous and Little Miss Sunshine, road trips have a lot of cultural cache.
People like Lucy are especially inspiring! Lucy and her boyfriend travel all over the world in their 1985 Volkswagen Westfalia. Her Instagram account is swoon-worthy! Travel photography always inspires not only my destinations, but the aesthetic I crave while on the road. Both Theo Gosselin and Olivia Bee’s photography have me thinking of the perfect pair of boots and golden hour on the Pacific Coast Highway. I’m not the only one who wants my travels to look as good as they feel, right?
In that spirit, I’ve pulled some of this summer’s most popular #ShopLu items to create the perfect road trip look. That means it’s comfortable, versatile, and looks incredibly cool whether you’re curled up for a catnap in the back seat, or clambering down a trail off the side of the road.
If you’re planning a road trip, or have recently traveled across the country, I want to hear all about it! Share your insights and experiences in the comments.
As Jack Kerouac said, “Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life."
