What would your inner rockstar look like? How would you dress if everyday you put your best foot forward? These are the questions fluttering around my head recently as I contemplate what my rebrand is going to look like and how I want to move forward into the new year. To begin the process of 'hammering it out', this morning Dom and I got up early to do a quick photo shoot before his bus came.
I strongly believe that people of diverse abilities process the world differently and access a higher plane of visual and creative expression than those of us who are 'a-typical' presenting (lets be real- we all have our quirks). Deaf people have an amazing eye for photography. Think about it: Deaf people process the world visually and in turn have a heightened sense of seeing. One time Dominic and I were at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh and we walked into the James Turrell exhibit. The room was pitch dark, I COULDN'T SEE A THING... luckily my Deaf brother had my back. He immediately spotted where the light was coming from and led the way while my eyes adjusted.
This should make him the perfect Creative Director for Lu Curates, right?! Plus, he's cheap labor...dinner = photos? Sounds like a deal to me.
As I start to focus my brand, I want to dive deeper into the arts and traveling. But I'd also love to hear what you guys think? What do you want to see more of? What content really helps you? And how can I improve Lu Curates in the new year?
Outfit Low Down: Basically everything I'm wearing is from a small and adorable shop in Grass Valley, CA (my hometown) named Mint, check out their Instagram here.
